This Lottery funded project was completed while working for Archial Architects. I was responsible for the design and planing process including presenting the project at design review in Bristol (presentation material below).
This project was very close to my heart as I had the privilege to work with some fantastic young people and incredibly dedicated youth workers. The old building was quite literally falling apart. It felt like a dark cave with a cavernous, leaky sports hall to the rear. The design was developed in collaboration with the young people and resulted in bright spaces flooded with natural light and a series of views through the interior of the building that connect the various activities taking place with an aim to encourage maximum participation of the club members with the opportunities available from, dancing to cooking to archery.
I was lucky to go and visit the newly opened facility in the Summer of 2013 and would like to share some of my photos with you.
