As happens with many homesspace can be pushed to its limits when family come to stay. This garden studio was commissioned primarily to provide a place for guests the extended family to stay when visiting from overseas with the grandchildren. The studio replaces an existing garage with an additional space linking the studio into the house.

Diagram of the concept and how the spaces work together
The extension has been designed so that a line of sight is maintained through the building. When there are no guests the studio will provide a space to enjoy the well-maintained garden all year round. The link can be used for dining or sitting, it opens right onto the patio with a glazed corner maximising views into the garden.

The proposal is finished in brick with feature sections of vertical brickwork to provide interest and character.

A space for happy family times
