Firstly I’d like to address the spelling. Apparently ‘aeroplane’ is a rare alternative spelling of ‘aiplane’ but it’s what I know so I’m sticking with it. After a friend tipped me off that there was a field in Bang Kapi that is home to a number of abandoned planes I had to go and see it for myself. Picking another 37degree day for a 6km walk I boarded a rammed canal boat, and jetted up the polluted waterway to Wat Sri Bunruang. I met a couple of friendly temple cows before gaining entry to the field for a sum of 200THB. There were a couple of rudimentary buildings fashioned from plane fuselages and an assortment of plane pieces grouped in another corner of the field. 
After a good poke around (one other photographer but otherwise eerily on my own) I began my stomp back towards Ramkhamhaeng BTS station. The Canal surprisingly had a wide navigable path along its length on both sides. Due to the heat of the day it was largely deserted. The canal creates a picturesque outlook that is hugely compromised by the level of pollution. If you overlook the floating nappies there were some great plants and trees, small ‘pocket park’ type spaces, a distinctive muslim community with some nice looking eateries and fabulous street art or canal art (selection of images below).
